Description

CARLO GOLDONI’S HOUSE

Casa di Carlo Goldoni is a small museum in the San Polo district of Venice. It is the birthplace of the famous playwright Carlo Goldoni, who was born here in 1707.

The museum is housed in an ancient Gothic palace called Ca’ Centanni, which was once a family residence. Goldoni spent part of his childhood here before beginning his life between Venice and other cities.

Today, the house has been transformed into a museum dedicated to him and to Venetian theatre. Inside, you will find not just ordinary rooms, but also objects, paintings, documents, and displays that рассказывают his life and works, as well as what theatre was like in the 18th century.

One particularly interesting feature is a room with marionettes and a reconstructed small theatre, offering insight into how performances looked at the time.

The building also houses an important library with thousands of texts on theatre, making it not only a tourist attraction but also a center for research.

Overall, it is a place that immerses you in 18th-century Venice and in Goldoni’s theatrical world, even if it is relatively small compared to other museums.
