Description
The Church of San Rocco, located in the San Polo district, is famous for being dedicated to the saint who protects against the plague. Built in the 15th century, it houses extraordinary cycles of frescoes and artworks, many created by Tintoretto, which decorate the interior with vivid and intense scenes. The church is also part of the eponymous Scuola Grande di San Rocco, making it a key site for the religious and artistic history of Venice.
Opening hours:
Monday – Saturday: 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM (last entry at 5:00 PM)
Sunday: 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM (last entry at 5:00 PM)
The church is open every day of the year, including religious and national holidays.
On New Year's Day and Christmas, reduced hours: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM.
